Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 Release Date, Specs: A New Version of the Smartphone with the Largest Screen in the US Market Now Available at AT&T

Samsung's Galaxy Mega 2 smartphone which launched in August in Asia will be sold in the United States by AT&T, Sprint and U.S. Cellular. In fact, AT&T has already announced that it will be selling the Galaxy Mega 2 beginning today, October 24. A two-year contract is priced at just $149.99. Alternatively, a 'Next 18' plan is priced at $19.80 per month and a 'Next 12' at $23.75 per month. Without contract, the Galaxy Mega 2 will cost $475. Also, buyers who get their Galaxy Mega 2 before October 31 will qualify for AT&T's $100 credit offer, which only applies to new 'Next' contracts.

The Galaxy Mega, the largest smartphone in Samsung's lineup, is one of the biggest handsets available on the market. It features a 6.0-inch 1280x720 Super Clear LCD display, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and is powered by Samsung's own 1.5GHz Exynos 4415 quad-core processor along with 1.5GB of RAM. It has a microSD card slot for additional storage of up to 64 GB. It runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat mobile operating system. It uses Samsung's Ultra Power Saving mode to conserve its 2800mAh-battery life. Other hardware specs include an accelerometer, Bluetooth, GPS, a gyroscope, a light sensor, a proximity sensor, headphones, microUSB, FM and Wi-Fi. It has Samsung's unique "one-handed operation' mode, a feature which can be useful given its large screen size. Like all Galaxy phones, Mega 2 supports Multi Window Mode, which allows two windows on-screen at the same time for multitasking, and Private Mode, which lets users to store sensitive personal files in a hidden, password-protected folder.
