The Winans Experienced a Surge in Sales Because of Rapper Drake's "Views"

On April 29, rapper Drake released one of this year's album Views. In his home country of Canada, Views sold 110,000 equivalent album units, and sold 92,000 copies in its opening week.
In the United States, Views debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with 1.04 million equivalent album units, selling 852,000 copies in its first week of release, and achieving over 245 million streams. It is the biggest since Adele's25 collected 1.19 million units in its fifth week of release (week ending Dec. 24, 2015).
The #1 album also included a very familiar sample from the Winans. The first thirty seconds on the title track "Views", features a sample from "The Question Is" the gospel mega-hit that debuted on the Winans inaugural release Introducing The Winans that was first released in 1981. "The Question Is" saw Apple Music streams increase to 6,000, after averaging 200-300 prior to Drake using the sample.
