Jeannie Seely Honored by Home State of Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives unanimously approved House Resolution 259 honoring Jeannie Seely on her 50th anniversary of becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. The resolution was sponsored by Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest). Seely was joined by Rep. Kathy Rapp and Mike Turzai Speaker of the House Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

"Never have I been more proud of my heritage than I was today. It is my hope that I will always represent Pennsylvania in a manner that would make them proud of their native daughter, and I thank them for this distinguished honor." Seely said.

Born in Titusville, Crawford County, and raised on a farm outside Townville, Seely became the first Pennsylvania native to become an Opry member on Sept. 16, 1967, and also the first woman to regularly host Opry segments.

Seely recently released her new album WRITTEN IN SONG, which topped the list of CMT's 'New Albums in the New Year,' The Boot's 'Most Anticipated Albums' and continues to receive lovely reviews:

"Miss Country Soul" Jeannie Seely is a GRAMMY® award-winning artist who has been recording and performing for more than six decades. A Pennsylvania native, Seely moved to LA where she met many songwriters including Dottie West who ultimately encouraged her to move to Nashville. Within a month, Porter Wagoner hired her as the female singer for his road and television series.
