Lynda Randle Talks About Her First Christmas Album in More than a Decade

Genre-spanning, Dove Award-winning vocalist Lynda Randle has released her brand new album White Christmas, her first full-length holiday offering in more than a decade. The 11-song Gaither Gospel Series® release was produced by Jason Clark (The Singing Contractors, Michael English) and Randle.
Singer/songwriter, author, speaker and television personality Lynda Randle is one of Christian music's most distinct voices. A familiar face at Gaither Homecoming events and on Homecoming videos through the years, her signature song, "God on the Mountain," is the most popular video on the GaitherTV YouTube Channel with over 43 million views.
Randle has shared the stage with such musical legends as Andraé Crouch and Gladys Knight, among others, and she is the creator and host of the popular "A Woman After God's Own Heart" conference.
Q: Lynda, thanks for doing this interview with us. Your new Christmas album has such a beautiful nostalgic feel, what was Christmas like for you while you were growing up?
Growing up in the middle of seven kids, there wasn't always a lot to go around in terms of material things, so Christmas was very simple and authentic. We came to understand that Christmas wasn't about "stuff" but about Jesus, and love and family!
Q: Were there any special family traditions that you observed as a kid growing up during Christmas time?
We read the Christmas story and prayed together as a family. I will never forget those sweet memories and it's a tradition I've carried on through the years and share with my hubby and children on Christmas Day.
Q: You have included your brother Michael Tait on this new album. Share with us your relationship with your brother while you were growing up and right now.
My brother Mike has always been-and remains-one of my best friends in life, and we have such a special brother/sister bond! I'm so proud of him, and I love any opportunity to make music with him on stage or in the studio.
Q: What was it like recording with your brother?
It was SUCH a blast! We had a great time and something special happens when we get together in the studio.
Q: Why did you decide to make this new Christmas album?
I've always loved Christmas and Christmas music, so making this project was truly a joy. I know the real meaning of Christmas is the birth of our Lord Jesus, and that's the reason we celebrate-not just at Christmas, but all year through. In these unprecedented times, we need the hope and peace of Jesus more than ever, and I pray these songs will mean as much to those who hear them as they do to me.
Q: How will you be spending Christmas this year?
I'll be at home in Kansas City, Missouri, with my husband, Michael, and my two daughters, Patience and Joy.
Q: What does Christmas mean to you now?
Peace and hope. After a year like we've had with the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing racial and political issues, I just want to be reminded of the peace of God and the hope of His presence!
