TAYA Shares the Story Behind "One and Only"

TAYA recently released her new single, "One and Only," from her newly announced sophomore solo album The Reminder. Her new record is slated to arrive on April 4. TAYA takes the time to tell the story behinf her new song:
The day we wrote One and Only will forever be etched in my mind. Not only have I never had a writing session where each writer held a cup of coffee in one hand & a Bible commentary in the other. But it was the conversation beforehand that I will always be grateful for as it gave me a song to sing that brought clarity, put words to a season and gave me a renewed confidence in the One who was with me through it all.
I was feeling the weight of responsibility, learning another level of how to lead something yet feeling like I was failing whilst being pressed on either side from well meaning people with their expectations of what they thought I should be doing.
From what songs I should write, to what direction my album should take, what it should sound like and who I should & shouldn't be working with when it came to this second record.
I was literally being crushed, and I didn't know how I'd come out of it.
That day amongst the books and the caffeine, my heart was heavily encouraged as we talked and cried (mostly me ha) and looked heavenward.
My friend correctly sensed the ending of that crushing season and reminded me of what I would be walking away with.
An anointing to lead, confident to head in the direction God had placed in my heart to go and it comes by one way only - the crushing.
It was that realization that brought us to this revelation in this song, One & Only.
It was the reminder of Another who was crushed and it brought about so much more than an album. It bought for us our eternal redemption and He became our pathway back to our Heavenly Father.
My prayer through this song is that you would see afresh God's One and Only Son, Jesus Christ. That you would see again The Lamb who was slain, the Son of Man, The Son most worthy and deserving of all His glory & praise. He was the One who endured and conquered death and its grave, and therefore God gave Him the name above every other name
