Red Band Society Fox TV Review, Pilot Episode, Storyline, Title And Latest Updates: Will The Upcoming Series Be Able To Strike A Balance Between Being Too Sentimental And Entertaining
We have the latest for you on the review, pilot episode, storyline, title and latest updates of Red Band Society, Fox TV's upcoming series. It's on Fox TV that this new hospital drama about cancer and coma kids premiered. The drama is touted and youth oriented. A review of the pilot episode reveals the origin of the tittle of the series "Red Band" which comes from the red bands the kids are given as they undergo long and sometimes life-changing surgeries. This has made the series gain a snappy concept to its current viewers, 'lightly entertaining' but despite all this it's expected to gain an audience in upcoming weeks.
The cast of this show include, Kara (Zoe Levin), who plays as a Bossy cheerleader with emotional discomforts which lead her to popping pills and taking drugs, she's low on the hospital's heart transplant list. There is Dash (Astro) who has a wise-cracking role, suffers from lung problems, we have Emma (Ciara Bravo) depicted as very hard working but finds eating to be her biggest challenge. There is also Leo (Charlie Rowe) and Jordi (Nolan Sotillo) both are diagnosed with cancer. Octavia Spencer, who plays the role of the cool ward Nurse and Dave Annable who is the Doctor responsible for the ward, are both adult actors who play roles of feeding tough love to the kids while giving them a little autonomy over their own lives.
"Luck isn't getting what you want, it's surviving what you don't want" are some catch phrases vomited from mouths of characters during the pilot episode which makes the drama to delve into predictable but emotional tugs every now and then proving that the cancer kids are plucky. This proves to be a hard job for Spencer and Annable who struggle to keep Red Band Society from becoming too sentimental.
Charlie, described as the worst offender of the Red Band Society, is the youngest in the society, a child who narrates about the other characters as he lies in his hospital bed in a coma. The choice to use this unusual narrative tactic by giving Charlie the line, "Deal With it" to read before noting, "The thing about a coma is that you can hear everything, you just can't respond." Early on it is revealed to us that Charlie can appear to other characters when they are passed out suffering from their own crisis. Charlie's story is one of the most interesting of all.
Created by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and written by Margaret Nagle, the show premieres on Fox on Wednesday September 17th at 9p.m ET.
