Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban Use Social Media to Thank Fans For Support Since Her Father's Tragic Death
"American Idol" judge Keith Urban stepped away from his role during the audition process for the next season to be by his wife, Nicole Kidman, after losing her father.
Nicole chose to send love and thanks for her fans and supporters on her Facebook page. "We would just like to thank everyone for their love and prayers over these past couple of weeks. We are all heartbroken but knowing we are in the hearts and thoughts of others is so comforting. Sending love, Nic and Keith xx," the couple wrote.
Antony Kidman has tragically died from a fall while overseas in Australia. Antony Kidman was an clincal psychologist in Australia but was in Singapore when the fall happened while visiting his other daughter, Antonia.
The elder Kidman was a clinical psychologist, biochemist and author, working in Sydney at the University of Technology's Health Psychology Unit. He was awarded an Order of Australia for his contributions to health services in 2005.
"American Idol" alum Adam Lambert has stepped in to guest judge while Keith Urban takes a leave of absence for his family. "Adam Lambert will be serving as guest judge at the NY auditions. Our thoughts are with Keith and his family during this difficult time," the "American Idol" Twitter account shared. Lambert joins fellow judges Harry Connick, Jr. and Jennifer Lopez.
Kidman's breakthrough film role was in the 1989 thriller Dead Calm. Following several films in the early 1990s, she came to worldwide recognition for her performances in Days of Thunder (1990), Far and Away (1992), and Batman Forever (1995). She followed these with other successful films in the late 1990s. Her performance in the musical Moulin Rouge! (2001) earned her second Golden Globe Award and first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Her performance as Virginia Woolf in the drama film The Hours (2002) received critical acclaim and earned Kidman the Academy Award for Best Actress and Silver Bear for Best Actress at Berlin film festival.
