The Swaggart Family to Hold Private Meeting Amid Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart’s Critical Health Crisis

The Swaggart family has announced that they will be holding a private meeting in the coming days as evangelist Jimmy Lee Swaggart remains in critical condition following a cardiac arrest on June 15, 2025. A close family member shared, "We are facing the end," acknowledging both the need for prayer and the reality of preparing for difficult decisions related to Swaggart's care and the leadership of the ministry he founded.
Jimmy Swaggart, 90, has been unconscious and in intensive care since the medical event at his Baton Rouge residence. He is best known as the founder of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and the long-running host of the "Jimmy Swaggart Telecast," which for decades has reached millions through the SonLife Broadcasting Network. His ministry has played a pivotal role in shaping Pentecostal and charismatic Christianity around the world.
Born March 15, 1935, in Ferriday, Louisiana, Swaggart began his preaching career in the 1950s. By the 1980s, he had become one of the most visible evangelists in the world, combining preaching with his talents as a gospel pianist and vocalist. He has released dozens of gospel albums, received Grammy nominations, and is recognized for his influence in both the church and gospel music communities. He is also the cousin of rock pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis and country star Mickey Gilley.
Despite facing significant public scandals in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Swaggart demonstrated resilience, rebuilding his ministry with humility and renewed zeal. He continued preaching weekly at Family Worship Center and remained active on television into his late eighties.
Donnie Swaggart, Jimmy's only son, and Gabriel Swaggart, his grandson, have taken on leadership roles during this critical time, regularly updating the congregation and leading services. The family has asked for privacy and continued prayer as they navigate this season with hope and faith.
No additional statements regarding Jimmy Swaggart's condition will be issued until after the family meeting. Official updates can be found through Jimmy Swaggart Ministries at www.jsm.org or via SonLife Broadcasting's social media platforms.
